Congressional Award Program

The Award

The Congress of the United States, through The Congressional Award program, recognizes excellence in initiative, achievement, and service among young persons (age 14-23). The Congressional Award is about challenge.  It is a fun and interesting way to get more involved in something young adolescents already enjoy or something they would like to try for the first time. Young people are challenged to set and complete goals in:

  • Voluntary public service,
  • Personal development, and
  • Physical fitness. Then undertake an
  • Expedition or Exploration.

The Congressional Award comes in Bronze, Silver and Gold. Every student needs to select an adult advisor who will help them set challenging but achievable goals and plan activities to reach those goals.
