2005 IMLA Region 4  Educator of the Year

Tina Bonnett

The Region IV Middle Level Educator of the Year started her career at the elementary level, spending many years at three different elementary schools in Twin Falls.  But one faithful step took her into the wonderful world of middle level education and she truly found a home.

She has been an active participant in the molding and forming of the middle school philosophy at O’Leary Junior High.  She helped implement teaming, advisory, block scheduling, school improvement, and student-led conferencing; not only through her actions but her amazing spirit and enthusiasm.  Tina is known as a pioneer in the field of student-led conferencing and has presented this concept numerous times.

At a point in her career when she was already considered a veteran teacher and most definitely a master teacher, she decided to get her Masters.  She did this for personal and professional growth.

Tina is an outstanding math teacher. She is the kind of teacher kids talk about for years, the kind kids write letters to the paper about to thank for doing such a great job, the kind kids come back to for help when they are struggling in 8th and 9th grade.  She is always there for the kids. Tina has filled the roll of team secretary, core team leader, and 7th grade team leader.  She is has also been involved in Math Net, Math Cadre, Math Count, and Ed Tech Quest.   Tina is an active member in IMLA and currently serves as its web director.
